Day 1: downtown Shanghai - Changxing Island Country Park - Kaiyuan Manju Hotel

Changxing Island Country Park

Changxing Island Country Park is characterized by "nature, ecology, and rustic charm". It is positioned as an ecological conservation park in the outer suburbs. At night, you can check in Changdao Manor, where there are 12 exquisite villas in a quiet environment.

The ingredients chosen by the farm canteen in the comprehensive service area are seasonal vegetables from the farming experience area in the park. Chickens, ducks, and geese are bred in the orange orchard, and fish and shrimp are from the Yangtze River. If you are a foodie, you will be satisfied with the rural flavor here, which does not lose to that of any internet-famous restaurant.

In the cultural and sports area, there is the Weizhi Equestrian Club on a large lawn. You can take your pet to have fun in the green fir forest and have a barbecue under the trees. Dongtan Wetland Park, located on the easternmost side of Chongming Island, is a major international wetland listed in the Ramsar Convention, and adjacent to the national nature reserve. The park welcomes the migratory birds from afar at the place where the Yangtze River and the East China Sea embrace each other and the sunrise is seen at the earliest time. As an international ecological park, Dongtan Wetland Park aims to build itself into a platform integrating natural protection, scientific research, popular science education, eco-tourism, and leisure vacation. It actively explores a win-win sustainable development mode of natural protection and economic development. It establishes an international ecological demonstration area for wetland protection and rational utilization. With ten years of efforts in restoring the wetland ecology and optimizing the structure, it turns the barren saline-alkali land into a brand new look. It provides an ideal place for migratory birds to live, a good platform for people to return to nature, and a quiet garden for Shanghai, a rapidly developing modern city.

The Terrace for Watching Heron is a two-story wooden building with a grass roof in the middle of the park. The thatch laid on the roof can store heat in the interior of the building, and make birds in the park less vulnerable to human factors, giving the creatures more habitats.

Quemingdu is a two-story wooden grass-roofed building located in the south of the central part of the park. There is a boat rowing dock on the first floor, where you can take a boat on the lake. On the second floor, the coffee lounge near the lake is equipped with a wooden frame sloping into the water. You can see wild birds flying over the sparkling lake and singing among the reeds. This is one of the most significant architectural landscapes and scenic spots in the park.

Fangcaodi is a one-story wooden building located southeast of the park. A large number of flowers are planted in the front yard of the building. They are bright and fragrant in every flowering season. In the east is an angling area, and to the south is an imported Manila lawn. With a soft texture and comfortable touch, it is the best place for children to play and adults to relax.

Guanhai Building is a three-story wooden sightseeing restaurant located at the north end of the park. Engaged in catering and meetings and as one of the major architectural landscapes in the park, it proves the saying - good wine needs no bush.
