On September 29, the Manyu Outdoor Activity Camp located in Luhua Town officially opened for trial operation, adding a new landmark for water activities in Chongming. The Manyu Outdoor Activity Camp is located in Luhua Town's Lugang Village, adjacent to the Xisha Mingzhu Lake Scenic Area. As you enter the camp, an expansive water area comes into view. It is called the Moon Lake, covering an area of 100 mu with a 2-kilometer water route. Visitors can enjoy the pleasure of water sports by leisurely floating on a flat-bottomed boat, freely navigating through the forest, feeling embraced by the beauty of the forest and lake, and savoring rare tranquility and comfort.

According to the information obtained, the camp highlights platform boats and kayaks as its main water projects. Platform boats, also known as recreational kayaks, are easy to learn as amateur enthusiasts can easily operate them. Kayaks allow three to four people to paddle together. The water sports not only provide the thrill of gliding on the water but also help exercise endurance, overall muscle strength, and allow the appreciation of outdoor scenery while breathing in fresh air, promoting physical and mental well-being.

The Manyu Outdoor Activity Camp was created by the "Mandao Outdoor" team, one of the earliest pioneers of water sports clubs in Shanghai. Yang Minwei, a partner at Mandao Outdoor and a native of Chongming, shared that in recent years, water sports have become increasingly popular among citizens. Chongming has unique natural conditions and abundant water resources for water sports, so he has been looking for an opportunity to develop water projects in his hometown. Fortunately, Luhua Town extended an olive branch. After communication and investigation, the camp settled in Luhua Town.

Yang Minwei introduced that as one of the few camps in the country where you can experience the charm of kayaking and platform boats, the Manyu Outdoor Activity Camp is equipped with professional coaches to provide visitors with safe and comfortable water experiences. "Some people may worry about the potential risks of water sports, but in fact, the waters in Chongming are calm, and platform boats and kayaks are easy-to-handle vessels. We require visitors to wear life jackets before getting on board and, with the guidance of instructors, it is a very safe activity."

In addition to water sports experiences, during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, visitors can enjoy a unique "Water Crab Feast" aboard kayaks. The National Day falls during the peak season for hairy crabs, and Luhua Town has the largest area for cultivating such crabs, as well as being a major citrus-producing region. Gather a few friends together, sip tea and chat while tasting locally-sourced succulent freshwater crabs and fragrant citrus fruits on the calm lake surface, all while admiring the natural scenery of the small islands. This feeling is truly unique. "With the support and collaboration from relevant departments in Luhua Town, we have integrated water sports, cuisine, and tourism, developing distinctive tourism products, aiming to attract more tourists, and establishing the brand of Luhua's water sports projects," said Yang Minwei.
