Founded in 1978, Chongming Chengqiao High School is located on the Chongming Iskand. In 2009, the high school is ranked as the experimental and demonstration high school of Chongming County. Equipped with complete facilities, it enjoys a beautiful environment and rich cultural ambience. Meanwhile, the school carries its motto of “Chengqiao High School’s glory is also my glory, and I am winning glory for my Alma Mater.” With the right direction for schooling, Chengqiao High School has formed its own style that lies in education of special characteristic, and has become of modern new school of high starting point, high schooling quality and high level.

 Though Chengqiao High School was one located in country area with a short history of approximately 30 years, by insisting the basic policy of respecting and encouraging student’s personalities and specialties and the inner value of cultivating creative talents, it has formed special schooling style of its own, with the education of art, technology and sports as the school’s fortes. Chengqiao High School is nominated as the first batch of “Schools Inheriting Chinese Civilization”, National School of Gymnastics, Civilized Work Unit of Shanghai City, Demonstration School of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Shanghai Brain Olympic School with Special Characteristics, Demonstration School of standardized use of language and characters in Shanghai, Demonstration School of Education of Science and Technology of Shanghai, Advanced Group of Art Education of Shanghai, Advanced Sports School of Shanghai, Advanced Work Unit of National Defense Education and other glories of the city level. It is the only base school in  Chongming which integrates curricular education and sports. The success of the school education has its key points mainly lying in the transformation of the perspective of talent cultivation, the schooling ideas, and the education policies of “advocating student’s advantages, excavating students’ potentials, developing students’ talents”, which all lead to the school’s construction of special characteristics.

 Chengqiao High School currently has 31 teaching classes and approximately 1,300 students. With the guidance of advanced teaching principles, it would send a great number of talents to universities of different levels. The school enjoys a strong teaching staff, with 51 senior teachers, 4 leaders in principles, 18 talents of teaching of the county level, 4 teachers’ with a master’s degree, 16 teachers with certificates of attending curricula of master’s level, and 2 teachers have become the members of “Shuangming Project” in Shanghai. In the recent two years, a number of teachers have won prizes in the math     competition of Shanghai, and 1-2 teachers will be sent abroad for further study every year. In addition, the school often invites famous experts and scholars in Shanghai to hold lectures for teachers and students, which enable teachers and students to have access to contacting with famous people, expand their horizon, and cultivate their scientific mind as well as humanistic spirits.
