Recently, nearly 500 students from Hengsha Middle School and Hengsha Primary School participated in a study and practice activity themed "Walking Through Beautiful Island Villages, Embracing the Philosophy of Ecological Civilization" at the Chongming Dongtan Shangshi Modern Agricultural Park. The event, guided by the District Education Bureau, aimed to deepen students' understanding of the importance of ecological civilization construction and enhance their environmental awareness and social responsibility through on-site visits and interactive experiences.

"From seedling cultivation, transplanting, to husking into a grain of rice, it involves many complex processes and the sweat of many farmers," explained the senior agronomist at the park to the students of Hengsha Primary School, who learned about the journey of a grain of rice. "Today, I realized that every grain of rice comes from hard work, and I will cherish food more in the future," said one student.

Subsequently, the students, led by their teachers, visited the ecological planting area and the intelligent greenhouse of the modern agricultural park. When students learned that the intelligent control system could automatically adjust the temperature, light, water, fertilizer, and air needed for plant growth, they were amazed by the development of modern agricultural technology.

Teachers and students from Hengsha Middle School entered the saline-alkali land demonstration base of Shangshi Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd., and participated in a social study class practice activity themed "Transforming White Beaches into Fertile Fields" as part of the "Great Ideological and Political Course". After visiting the saline-alkali land experimental resource garden, students engaged in in-depth discussions with technicians, learning about methods of saline-alkali land management and green development models.

In addition, students had close-up experiences with soil improvement experimental greenhouses and the latest improvement technologies, feeling the difficulty of saline-alkali land management and the magical charm of modern agricultural technology, stimulating their thoughts on environmental protection and sustainable land use. "Today, I witnessed drone planting technology with my own eyes, it's so cool, the technicians are amazing!" exclaimed an excited eighth-grade student.

On the day of the event, students from both schools also experienced vegetable picking, feeling the hardship of labor and the joy of harvest in practical operations. They also attended a special lecture on ecological protection and sustainable development, spending a rich and fulfilling day.

This study and practice activity truly allowed students to step out of the classroom, gain knowledge, and broaden their horizons through practice. By experiencing and deeply understanding, they gained a more profound understanding of modern agricultural technology. In the future, the District Education Bureau will continue to organize more such study activities to promote the comprehensive development of students.
