Recently, the Career Education Display and Discussion Event for primary and secondary school students in Chongming District, themed "Rooted in the Homeland, Winning in the Future," was held at the Affiliated Dongtan School of Shanghai Experimental School. The event was guided by the Shanghai Student Mental Health Education Development Center, hosted by the Chongming District Education Bureau, undertaken by the Chongming District Education Institute, and co-organized by the Affiliated Dongtan School of Shanghai Experimental School. Liu Mingbo, Deputy Director of the Moral Education Development Research Institute of Shanghai Educational Science Research Institute, Shen Zhifei, Chairman of the Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Psychological Counseling Association, Yang Yanping, a researcher at the Moral Education Development Research Institute of Shanghai Educational Science Research Institute, Lu Qin, a member of the Chongming District Education Work Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Education Bureau, Guo Chunfei, Deputy Director of the District Education Institute, Shen Zhifei's Famous Teacher Studio on Mental Health Education, representatives of psychological teaching researchers from various districts, representatives of psychological teachers, leaders in charge of moral education in primary and secondary schools across the district, psychological teachers, and teachers and students participating in the display, totaling more than 150 people, attended the event. Li Qihua, Director of the Moral Education Department of the Chongming District Education Bureau, presided over the event.
Lu Qin delivered a welcome speech. She expressed gratitude to the municipal leaders and experts for their long-term concern and guidance on Chongming's career education, emphasizing that career education has become an urgent requirement for the development of the times and the cultivation of talent. Chongming must continue to adhere to the concept of "Rooted in the Homeland, Winning in the Future," closely relying on Chongming's rich local resources, to build a career education system with regional characteristics, explore new models and methods of career education, continuously strengthen regional exchanges and cooperation, share and create high-quality resources, and discuss new strategies for the development of career education.
Liu Mingbo expressed high affirmation for this display and discussion event and put forward four hopes: First, strengthen top-level design to improve the guarantee of career education. Both district and school levels need to strengthen the top-level design of career education policies, further clarify the goals, implementation paths, and guarantee measures of career education, include them in the educational evaluation and supervision system, and ensure effective implementation. Second, integrate curriculum resources to consolidate the foundation of career education. It is necessary to start from the strategic goal of ecological island construction, take the demand of characteristic industries as the orientation, and build a comprehensive curriculum system from basic education to vocational education. Third, strengthen team building to improve the quality of career education. Districts and schools should form a professional career education teacher team, forming a well-structured and high-quality teacher team. Fourth, improve the collaborative mechanism to gather the strength of career education. The education department should play a coordinating role, strengthen the planning and supervision of career education, and schools should play a leading role, working with families to carry out career education well.
Shen Zhifei made precise comments on the two career teaching demonstration classes in primary and junior high schools: First, fully combined with Chongming's local culture, reflecting the effective implementation of family and national sentiments in Chongming's career education; Second, it integrates self-understanding, social understanding, and career choice, highlighting the main components of career education; Third, it presents the characteristics of clear career counseling activity courses, where students can fully express themselves in the classroom, and the resources are rich in generativity and dynamics.
Yang Yanping fully affirmed the situational short plays, experience sharing, and thematic reports in this display activity, pointing out the four highlights of Chongming's career education: The timeline runs through the concept of students' lifelong development, the content line focuses on Chongming's ecological construction, the activity line creates fruitful characteristic results, and the target line activity design highlights students' developmental needs.
Guo Chunfei presented the compilation of Chongming's career education exploration achievements to the representatives of primary and secondary school psychological teachers: "Moistening the Homeland, Touching the Future - Compilation of Career Education Activity Cases in Chongming District" and "Winning in the Future - Career Education Activity References."
Huang Juan, a psychological teacher at Baozhen Second Primary School, taught "The Career That Touches the Heart," guiding students to initially consider various factors in future career choices by thinking about the charm and challenges of characteristic careers in Chongming District.
Wang Zhiqiang, a psychological teacher at Dongtan School, taught "Persistence and Adaptability," focusing on the story of the bird whistle inheritor "Old Jin," and in a philosophical discussion, let students understand and recognize: when career development changes, it is necessary to adhere to the accumulation of knowledge and skills, while actively seeking methods to respond.
Students and teachers from Ximen Primary School, Experimental Middle School, and Yangzi Middle School jointly performed the situational drama "Dreams Come True," based on the career growth process of students in this district, showing the profound impact of the exploration and practice of integrated career education in primary, junior, and senior high school stages on students.
Zhang Hanxu, a psychological teacher at Jiangfan Middle School, as a representative teacher participating in the career exploration practice, shared the exploration process and growth insights of personal participation in career education practice with the theme of "The Career Education Exploration and Practice of 'Green Innovators'."
Wei Chaobo, a psychological teaching researcher, made a thematic report titled "Rooted in the Homeland, Winning in the Future - The Chongming Practice of Primary and Secondary School Career Education," from the understanding and cognition of career education "rooted in the homeland," career exploration and practice based on local resources, the effectiveness and experience of nearly 10 years of career education exploration, and reflection and prospects based on career education practice, comprehensively and detailedly displaying the process of Chongming's career education starting, nurturing, and developing, and deeply thinking about the future continuous development.
Explore career education, plan growth paths. In the future, Chongming education will continue to clarify the goals of career education, plan and implement all work to high standards, highlight characteristics, and take solid steps on the path of high-quality development of Chongming education, allowing every child to bask in the sunshine and grow freely in the "Chongming Education Forest."
