The 2025 Tour of Chongming Island, part of the UCI Women's WorldTour, will be held from Oct 14 to 16 in Shanghai's Chongming district. It is China's only multi-day women's road cycling event at the WorldTour level.
As a major international cycling competition on par with races like the Tour de France, it will feature 108 top female cyclists from 18 teams around the world, including five Women's WorldTour teams, two professional teams, and 11 continental teams.
Organized by the UCI, China's General Administration of Sport, and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the three-stage race will cover a total distance of 348.6 kilometers.
The first stage of the race will traverse western Chongming Island in a 108.6-km route, the second stage will cross the eastern part of the island in a 128.6-km journey, and the third stage, which covers 111.4 km, will be a central urban circuit. The race will span 17 towns, showcasing Chongming's ecological and cultural landmarks.
The event also integrates professional competition with public engagement. Supplementary activities include an online race, a bicycle carnival, and a video initiative that encourages people to explore the race route.
At the same time, the Yangtze River Delta Road Cycling Elite Race and the Chongming Island Open will allow amateur cyclists to experience professionally designed courses.
