Recently, the international jet powered surfboard organization Jetsurf Academy has opened a branch at Guangming Pastoral in Chongming, bringing new "speed and passion" to the island's water sports ecology.

On the vast waters of Guangming Pastoral, national team athletes from the Qingdao Maritime School jet powered surfboard team are conducting simulated competition training and have also performed water freestyle displays, demonstrating superb balance control and wave-riding skills. It is reported that Guangming Pastoral has now become a permanent training base for the national jet powered surfboard team athletes of the Qingdao Maritime School, providing ample preparation for participating in various competitions. The athletes have expressed great satisfaction with this training location in Chongming.

"This water area can perfectly simulate different competition environments both domestically and internationally. When windy, the wave conditions closely resemble actual competitions, which greatly enhances the team members' ability to handle waves. The comprehensive supporting facilities on shore also meet the needs for physical training," said Zhang Maozhu, the men's jet powered surfboard silver medalist at the Chengdu World Games, who praised the training venue highly.

Jet powered surfboarding is a water-powered sport where athletes use powered unit professional board equipment to achieve high-speed gliding, turning, and stunts by controlling power output and body balance. Since its establishment in 2012, the sport has developed rapidly and is now listed as a World Games event. As a globally renowned professional jet powered surfboard institution, Jetsurf Academy has multiple branches worldwide. Its establishment in Chongming marks its first entry into the Chinese market.

Liu Fujia, the head of Jetsurf Academy in China, said: "Jet powered surfboarding has extremely high requirements for venues, needing the right conditions of weather, geographical convenience, and human harmony. The water width, length, and ecological environment of Chongming's Guangming Pastoral fully meet the standards for international competitions and professional training." Subsequently, the academy will focus on "research and study + competitions + professional training," providing not only training support for professional athletes but also offering experiential courses for general enthusiasts, allowing more people to enjoy the fun of this sport.

In recent years, by hosting major events such as the China Legend Challenge and the IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, Guangming Pastoral has developed a systematic event operation strategy. In the future, Guangming Pastoral plans to continuously introduce sports projects and enrich sports consumption scenarios, providing higher-quality sports products for the vast number of sports enthusiasts in Chongming.

Chongming's excellent ecological environment and superior venue conditions provide fertile ground for the development of the sports industry. With the successive establishment of major international sports events in Chongming, such as cycling, marathons, triathlons, and the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters, the sports potential of this ecological island is gradually becoming apparent.
