As an important community-based carrier for family education services innovatively established by the Shanghai Women's Federation, the "Home + Library" has been selected as a practical project for the people of Shanghai in 2025. To date, Chongming District has awarded plaques to three batches of libraries, totaling 11 establishments. Adhering to the philosophy of "convenient service and high-quality sharing," these libraries create comfortable and accessible reading and learning environments for residents, making quality family education resources readily available and truly realizing "access to resources without traveling far, enjoying the fragrance of books right at the doorstep."

Stepping into the "Home + Library" on the third floor of the Renmin Road Party Service Center, one finds shelves neatly lined with a variety of books, from children's picture books and youth extracurricular readings to adult social sciences and family education books, catering to the reading preferences of different age groups and diverse needs. The library is open to the public free of charge, attracting many visitors daily.

As a new type of public space integrating three core functionsa parent-child growth camp, a parents' refueling station, and a community happiness circlethe "Home + Library" extends rich, high-quality family education resources and considerate services to every corner of the city. Whether children, parents, or the elderly, everyone can find content suited to their needs, achieving true all-ages adaptability.

On the fourth floor of the Party Service Center in Fusheng Life Plaza, Xinhe Town, Yuezhang Book House, as an important member of the "Home + Library" initiative, is equally popular. Covering an area of approximately 380 square meters, this library houses a collection of over 30,000 books. In addition to physical books, it is equipped with internet access devices to meet the needs of different groups. Retired Uncle Zhao makes it a daily ritual to visit. After arriving in the morning, he first browses the day's newspapers to catch up on current affairs, then selects a book of interest to read in detail. Occasionally, he logs onto eastday.com via computer. The diverse activities make his retirement life fulfilling and enjoyable.

Furthermore, the "Home + Library" boldly innovates in the content and format of its activities, integrating diverse forms such as reading sharing sessions, parent-child practice activities, and parent classes, attracting families of different age groups and backgrounds to participate enthusiastically.

At the "Home + Library" in the Renmin Road Party Service Center, a non-profit Haipai wool knitting class is in full swing. Since the library's establishment last year, Ms. Shen has been a regular visitor. Starting with curiosity about knitting, she has progressed to independently completing projects such as coin purses, dolls, and woolen flowers. Guidance from professional instructors has continuously provided her with a sense of achievement in her handmade creations.

From non-profit courses to parent-child reading, from elderly learning to parent exchanges, Chongming District's "Home + Library" is illuminating residents' lives with its diverse services. In the next step, the Chongming Women's Federation will continue to deeply explore regional resources and boldly innovate in the content and formats of "Home + Library" activities. While retaining the core function of traditional reading, it will integrate diverse forms such as reading sharing sessions, parent-child practice camps, and parent education classes, further promoting the organic integration of family needs and social services. In the future, more "Home + Libraries" combining "warmth" and "depth" will be established in Chongming, injecting new vitality into community family education and making "educational spaces at the doorstep" an important front for enhancing residents' sense of happiness.
