Recently, various rice planting areas and bases in Chongming have been busy harvesting mature late rice.
At the Hengsha Xinzhou Shanghai Modern Agricultural Industrial Park, over 10,000 mu of late rice are gradually being harvested. In the vast golden fields of Hengsha Xinzhou, several large harvesters shuttle back and forth, creating waves of rice and a fragrant aroma. The machines leave behind neat rows of stubble as they pass.
In September, 8,000 mu of rice in Hengsha Xinzhou successfully received organic certification, making it the largest organic rice field in the city. The park plans to further expand its ecological cultivation area to achieve full green and organic coverage.
Meanwhile, the Qimao Grain Cooperative in Gangyan Town is also busy with harvesting. Harvesters move through the fields, performing cutting, threshing, and straw crushing in one go. The harvested rice is loaded into grain trucks and transported to drying warehouses. Zhang Zhaopin, the planting manager of the cooperative, said that this year the base planted about 4,500 mu of rice, mainly the varieties "Hu Ruan Yu No. 1" and "Nan Jing 46," with an expected yield of around 550 kilograms per mu. It takes only three days from harvest to table.
According to the district agricultural department, Chongming's total rice planting area this year is about 270,000 mu. So far, over 10,000 mu have been harvested.
