From September 20 to November 30, the 2024 Shanghai Chongming Rural Culture and Tourism Festival, themed "Meet in Leisurely Chongming, Share Joy and Beauty," will launch a series of cultural and tourism activities spanning over two months across the district, showcasing the rural beauty, ecological charm, and cultural essence of Chongming in all dimensions.

This event is guided by the Shanghai Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, hosted by the People's Government of Chongming District, and undertaken by the Chongming District Culture and Tourism Bureau. It aims to deeply implement the spirit of the municipal office's "Implementation Plan for Promoting the Quality and Expansion of Service Consumption," further promote the quality and expansion of cultural and tourism service consumption in the district, and better meet the people's needs for "poetry and distance."

From high-quality agricultural products such as Chongming clear water crabs and white goats to distinctive natural landscapes like forests and wetlands, the Chongming Rural Culture and Tourism Festival held in previous years has deeply integrated local characteristics and fully demonstrated the charm of rural tourism. This year, in addition to continuing the consistent local features, new elements will be integrated in aspects such as island style, seasonal products, and promotional linkages to bring more surprises to everyone.

During the more than two months of the event, the festival will focus on four major sections: "Cruising Waterfront," "Love Shopping Season," "Garden Life," and "Multi-City Linkage," with more than 50 themed activities across the three islands providing visitors with new experiences in rural tourism.

The "Cruising Waterfront" series will rely on Chongming's rich ecological and water environment resources, focusing on popular activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as cycling and picking. At the same time, the 2024 Shanghai Chongming Forest Tourism Festival, "Shanghai Forest Flower Festival," "Mingzhu Lake Fresh Fish Festival," and other series of activities will be held, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the ecological charm of Chongming.

The "Love Shopping Season" series will organize Chongming's characteristic shopping activities through special markets, food festivals, group buying, and other forms, showcasing Chongming's local specialty foods and cultural and creative products to visitors, experiencing a different rural market atmosphere.

The "Garden Life" series includes various cultural and artistic activities held by towns across the district, such as the 2024 Xinhai Town Culture and Art Festival, Shuxin Town Harvest Festival, Bao Town Camping Music Festival, etc., allowing citizens and tourists to feel the cultural heritage and natural charm of Chongming District through participation in outdoor parent-child activities, stargazing camping, handicraft experiences, and cultural tours.

The "Multi-City Linkage" series will invite cultural and tourism enterprises around Chongming to participate, organizing dance competitions, insect king competitions, art exhibitions, and other activities.
