Leave household food waste in rural areas as they will be used to irrigate ecological forests. Such a beautiful idea has now come true. Recently, three new food waste processors are working hard at the Food Waste Organic Recycling Center in Xianghua Town. The introduction of the new equipment will open a new chapter for towns to beautify their living environment and enhance the enthusiasm of villagers for garbage classification.

Accompanied by a deep roar, the robotic arm lifted the classified garbage bin filled with food waste high, and various kitchen residues such as leftovers, fruit peels, shrimp shells, tea residue, etc. poured out and into a camouflage-painted square device. This food waste then underwent a completely quiet microbial degradation process.

At the Xianghua Town Food Waste Organic Recycling Center, our reporter observed the process of food waste treatment. The efficient, convenient, odorless, and fully automated process was eye-catching.

“This food waste disposal equipment can dispose of 3 tons of food waste per day. Through microbial application technology, food waste can be converted into organic fertilizer raw materials. About 1 ton of food waste can be converted into about 100 kilograms of organic fertilizer raw materials. The entire process has no sewage discharge, no odor discharge, and will not cause secondary pollution," said Su Guiming, head of Shanghai Jiuhuo Environmental Protection Group.

It is learned that the production of food waste in Xianghua Town is about 6 tons/day. Before the new equipment is put into use, all food waste will be transported to the food waste treatment station in the town for squeezing and dehydration. But old equipment has a strong odor and produces a lot of wastewater when running, in addition to a high daily maintenance cost. After multiple inspections, the "Huanbao Guardian" intelligent food waste treatment equipment developed by Shanghai Jiuhuo Environmental Protection Group was introduced and put into use in Xianghua Town this April.

A large screen is placed inside the disposal site, displaying in real-time the disposal volume of each machine and the carbon emission reduction data of food waste disposal, including carbon dioxide emissions reduction, carbon footprint, and organic fertilizer conversion carbon footprint. What’s more, the platform can be connected to major urban management platforms in townships, districts, and cities, providing a reference basis for government departments to strengthen scientific decision-making in urban operation and management.
