Construction of Chongming Metro Line Witnesses Major Progress

On the morning of June 22, on the construction site located at the southeast side of the intersection of G40 Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway and Jin'an Road on Changxing Island, a concrete pump truck was carrying out the final pouring of the foundation pit roof under the concentrated operation of the construction personnel. This marked the successful capping of the main structure project of the large and small shield conversion section of Bid Section 108 of Shanghai Rail Transit Chongming Line undertaken by Shanghai Tunnel Co., Ltd., which became the first structural capping unit project in the Chongming Line project.

Chongming Line, the first project of Chongming’s transportation pattern of one body with two wings and the first line of Shanghai Rail Transit in the first year of the “14th Five-year Plan”, will cross the Yangtze river twice in an all underground form for the first time. According to Wang Chaoqun, Deputy General Manager of Chongming Line Project Management Branch of Shanghai Tail Transit, Chongming Line, as the longest large-diameter slurry balanced shield tunnel for domestic rail transit, the two large and small shield conversion sections at Bid Sections 108 and 111 on Changxing Island will be the crucial conversion point between Chongming Line single tunnel double track super large shield and Changxing Island Station double tunnel double track small shield. It is also one of the most important and difficult engineering nodes to cross the Yangtze River. The project of Bid Section 108 successfully achieved the capping of the main structure, which successfully built the anchor point for the subsequent 13-meter super large shield crossing the Yangtze River, and created favorable conditions for the construction of the whole Chongming Line.

It is reported that the engineering construction units of Shanghai Rail Transit strictly follow the principle of "Prioritizing Pandemic Prevention, Ensuring Safety, Taking into Account Demand and Orderly Promotion", and spare no effort to keep pace with the progress of the engineering construction.
